The CEYA Islet forest restauration using Ape trees is well progressing

CEYA Islet Restauration

Primate Expertise reforestation project lunched few months ago on CEYA islet is well progressing! We have so far planted 1135 Ape Trees (seeds collected from the dung of the great apes) covering about 1 hectare which is slowly transforming the islet to an attractive ecotourist site.

With the archdiocese of Bukavu we are committed to restore 13 hectares of Ape Trees on this degraded islet located in the Lake Kivu. To make the islet more attractive, we will couple Ape treesTM with small scale livestock, vegetable garden and fruit production. We will be updating on how Ape Trees grow on this picturesque islet!
