🦍 Great news for conservation in Kahuzi-Biega National Park (PNKB)!

Nearly two years later, field reports confirm that the MPUNGWE Grauer’s gorilla family is thriving and well in its natural habitat.

As a reminder, the MPUNGWE family was habituated between 2021 and 2022 by Primate Expertise, in partnership with Wild Earth Allies and KBNP, to support ecotourism and conservation awareness in the park.

Confirming their continued presence highlights the tangible outcomes of the progressive and adaptive resumption of park activities decreed in July 2026.

👏 Huge congratulations to the entire KBNP team for their remarkable resilience and persistent efforts to protect biodiversity despite a complex security context.

These field observations underscore the urgent need for ongoing partnership and sustained commitment to safeguard the Grauer’s gorilla and its forest habitat.
