OFFICIAL DISTRIBUTION OF APE TREES® AND BAMBOO SEEDLINGS TO ISTD MULUNGU
Primate Expertise and Wild Earth Allies are making significant strides toward reducing human pressure on Kahuzi-Biega National Park (KBNP).

We have officially given 400 seedlings from the Ape Trees® project to the Institut Supérieur des Techniques de Développement (ISTD/MULUNGU).
As an institution neighboring the park with extensive landholdings, ISTD is becoming a strategic partner in our VBPT approach.

Beyond ISTD, other VBPT partners also received 400 seedlings per hectare. This brings the total distributed to 4,000 seedlings across ten hectares.
Why this matters:
By involving students and local residents in sustainable reforestation, we are fostering local ownership of conservation efforts. Creating alternative resources reduces human dependency on the park, ensuring the long-term protection of primates and their habitat.

Last year, this approach facilitated the acquisition of seeds required for producing more seedlings through the Ape Trees® project, ensuring the continuity of our nurseries.
